I am honored and thrilled to be part of the High School, Inc. Learning Community as we quickly approach the 2015-2016 school year. Committed to building on the tradition of excellence and achievement here at High School, Inc., I look forward to working alongside students, teachers, parents, and community members to take our learning to new and exciting places.
During my career in public education, I have worked in several capacities at the PK-8 grade levels. I taught for six years at the elementary level prior to assuming several administrative positions. I began my career as a third-grade teacher in an urban school district and also served as a Title I Math Resource Teacher and a school-based English Language Learner (ELL) Resource Teacher. I became an Instructional Associate and served as the district’s Summer School Director while I completed my Certification for my Administrative License.
Since becoming a school administrator, I have worked as an elementary vice principal, elementary principal and middle school principal. As a school leader, I have implemented collaborative and inclusive practices in all the districts in which I have served. I received a Master of Science in Education at the University of New Haven and my Administrative Certification from the University of Connecticut. Before coming to education, I served as a supervisor, manager, and project leader in the corporate sector. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Master of Business Administration.
I believe my elementary and middle school experiences as an educator and an administrator, coupled with my experiences in business, have fostered a unique perspective and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by those who serve in public education today. Furthermore, my multi-ethnic background and work in urban districts makes me sensitive and empathetic toward the different challenges faced by all students.
With student learning at the center of our work together, I look forward to this school year with high expectations for what is to come. I welcome your involvement and collaboration in the adventures that lie ahead. Working together as a community of learners, there is no limit to what we can achieve together.
